As far as better or not than an AK you'll get better tactical penetration but at the cost of a heavier rifle and ammo. As they say there is no free lunch. TīmeklisThe UK already wanted to do this post-WW2, with the EM2 and original version of the FAL chambered in .280 British, but later adapted to 7.62x51 for a tacit promise of US adoption. Given the experience with the FAL system, the next rifle may be something more like the FN CAL or FNC than M16 in this scenario.
