You will blow the sprag apart. Always start it in 2nd gear if you have a manual valve body. If not, I would suggest staying in first gear. It should be easy for any car to start a burnout in second since the tires are wet from the water in the water box.

Second gear on the M21 would be 1.64, multiply that by 3.73 and you get 6.12:1. I think there would be quite a bit less strain on the drive train to start out in first gear, and then hit second if need be.
